The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is given at CRHS in October and March, following College Board requirements. The October date is primarily for juniors and is the qualifying test for National Merit Scholarship consideration. The March PSAT is targeted to sophomores, as practice for the junior year test. Students can register for the PSAT by signing up with the CRHS test coordinator and paying the fee (2024 fee = $20). Fee waivers are available. Study materials are abundant at www.collegeboard.org. For the SAT go to www.collegeboard.org. Our school CEEB code is 341871. Our test center code is 34-476. Students with free or reduced lunch can get up to two fee waivers in the counseling department to take the test for free.

All NC juniors are required to take the ACT (for free) during school hours in March. Scores on this test may fulfill college admissions testing requirements, so students are encouraged to study and prepare to do their best. Study materials for the ACT  are available at ACTStudent.org.

All NC Sophomores are required to take the preACT (for free) during school hours in October. Scores can be used to help identify Honors level courses, so students are encouraged to study and prepare to do their best. Study materials for the Pre-ACT are available at ACTStudent.org.

Most colleges require students to submit scores for either the SAT or the ACT as part of the college application process. Students may elect to register for the SAT or ACT as scheduled by College Board or ACT.

The student should arrive at 7:45 A.M.and bring the following items.

Advanced Placement Information

ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring "real-world" skills that employers believe are critical to job success. This is an opportunity for you to earn your Career Readiness Certification which you can include on your resume, college applications and you can discuss in scholarship interviews.

You can receive a certificate at one of these levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze.

The test consists of three 55-minute sections: Workplace Documents, Applied Mathematics, and Graphic Literacy.

The NC Department of Public Instruction will notify the school of your scores or you can create an ACT account and access your testing information. 

All seniors who complete a 2nd level CTE Concentrator course are considered a CTE concentrator and are required to take this exam.
